Knights of Saint Mulumba (KSM) Membership.

Membership:

Membership of the Knights of Saint Mulumba (KSM) Nigeria is open exclusively to practicing Catholic men who demonstrate exemplary Christian values, while their wives become members of the Ladies of Saint Mulumba (LSM), the women's wing of the Order. Together, they are committed to serving God, the Church, and humanity through faith, charity, leadership, and community service.
The Order is a unique gathering of accomplished professionals and respected individuals from every sector of society. Its membership includes Government Administrative Officers, Teachers, Lawyers, Business Executives, Professors, Engineers, Bankers, Medical Doctors, Accountants, Architects, Security Experts, Entrepreneurs, and many other professionals. This diversity of expertise and experience strengthens the Order's mission and enables it to make meaningful contributions to the Church and national development.

Growth and Expansion of the Order:

Since its establishment in 1953, the Knights of Saint Mulumba Nigeria has experienced remarkable growth in both membership and organizational structure. Beginning with just two (2) subordinate councils, the Order expanded steadily under visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to its founding ideals.
By 1960, when the founder, Late Rev. Fr. Abraham Anselm Isidahome Ojefua, handed over leadership to Bro. Robert O. Olisa, the second Supreme Knight, the number of subordinate councils had increased to six (6). Through his dedication and strategic leadership, the Order continued its rapid expansion, doubling the number of councils to twelve (12).
The momentum continued during the tenure of Bro. Da Silva, under whose administration the number of subordinate councils increased to eighteen (18). One of the most significant milestones of this period was the establishment of the Ladies of Saint Mulumba (LSM), providing Catholic women with an organized platform to participate actively in the spiritual, charitable, and apostolic mission of the Order.
Further achievements were recorded during the administration of Supreme Knight George C. Akabogu. In 1985, the Mulumba Assurance Company was incorporated as part of the Order's commitment to providing financial security and welfare for its members. During the same era, KSM Nigeria strengthened its international presence by becoming a member of the International Alliance of Catholic Knights (IACK), with Bro. Akabogu serving as the organization's President from 1989 to 1990. In 1988, the Order also joined the International Council of Catholic Men (Unum Omnes), reinforcing its commitment to global Catholic brotherhood and collaboration.
By this period, the number of subordinate councils had risen to fifty-five (55), reflecting the growing acceptance and influence of the Order across Nigeria.

The Order Today:

Under the leadership of Bro. Myke Mary Nwosu, who assumed office in 2016, the Knights of Saint Mulumba Nigeria has continued to flourish. Membership has grown to approximately 23,555 members, comprising about 11,355 Knights and 12,000 Ladies, while the number of subordinate councils has expanded to 248 across the country.
Today, the Knights of Saint Mulumba Nigeria remains one of the largest and most respected Catholic lay organizations in Africa. The Order continues to promote spiritual growth, charitable outreach, leadership development, family values, youth mentorship, and community service, remaining steadfast in its mission of defending the Catholic faith and serving humanity with integrity and compassion.
